United’s new home kit for the 2009/10 campaign has been officially unveiled and you can now see it in all its glory in our special gallery on ManUtd.com.

The red kit, which can be pre-ordered online now, celebrates 100 years of Old Trafford with a large chevron across the chest, reflecting the design of the shirts worn by United when the stadium first opened during the 1909/10 season.

The back of the shirt has an engineered mesh, which is a series of small chevrons, a performance feature to offer the players even greater ventilation during games. Inside the black round-neck collar is a high quality woven label in red, white and black, while engineered into the side seam is a small label that reads ‘The Theatre of Dreams Since 1910.’

The shirt is made from Nike Dri-Fit fabric, which keeps the players drier, cooler and lighter by drawing sweat from the body to the fabric’s surface, while it’s three-dimensional construction gives more air space around the skin to reduce clinging.

The white shorts have a red stripe along the side, a red devil graphic on the back of the waist band, while the draw cords feature ‘MUFC’ on the tips. The black socks have a red chevron on the calf.

The players will don the kit for the first time during their pre-season tour of Asia next month. The squad fly out to the Far East on 16 July – the day the kit goes on sale and on which pre-orders will be delivered.

Wayne Rooney says it’s an honour to wear the shirt week in, week out and is looking forward to pulling on the latest design.

“It’s always exciting to see the new kit,” he told ManUtd.com. “It’s important that we like it and get used to it before the season starts [on tour]. I’m really excited about playing in it.”

Ji-sung Park echoed those sentiments, adding: “It always feels great to put the kit on and there is always a great meaning behind our kits. History is very important at this club and it’s something all the players are aware of.

“I really like the chevron feature – I like to think of it as ‘V’ for victory and hopefully we can win every game we play in the new kit.”

Assalamualaikum and greetings…

About the topic of this post is some extra information that I want to share with you guys. So, enjoy it!

Burj Dubai

Burj Dubai (Arabic: برج دبي‎ “Dubai Tower”) is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is the tallest man-made structure ever built, despite being incomplete. Construction began on 21 September 2004, and the tower is expected to be completed and ready for occupancy by September 2009.

The building is part of the 2 km2 (0.8 sq mi) development called “Downtown Burj Dubai” at the “First Interchange” along Sheikh Zayed Road at Financial Centre Road(previously known as Doha Street). The tower’s architect is Adrian Smith, who worked with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill(SOM) until 2006. The Chicago-based architecture and engineering firm SOM is in charge of the project. The primary builders are Samsung Engineering & Construction and Besix along with Arabtec. Turner Construction Company was chosen as the construction manager.

The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about US$4.1 billion, and for the entire new “Downtown Dubai“, US$20 billion. Mohamed Ali Alabbar, the CEO of Emaar Properties, speaking at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat 8th World Congress, said that the price of office space at Burj Dubai had reached $4,000 per sq ft (over $43,000 per m2) and that the Armani Residences, also in Burj Dubai, were selling for US$3,500 per sq ft (over $37,500 per m2).

Purpose

Burj Dubai has been designed to be the centerpiece of a large-scale, mixed-use development that will include 30,000 homes, nine hotels such as the Burj Dubai Lake Hotel & Serviced Apartments, 3 hectares (7.4 acres) of parkland, at least 19 residential towers, the Dubai Mall, and the 12-hectare (30-acre) man-made Burj Dubai Lake.

The building will return the title of Earth’s tallest free-standing structure to the Middle East—a title not held by the region since 1311 when Lincoln Cathedral in England surpassed the height of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which had held the title for almost four millennia.

The decision to build Burj Dubai is reportedly based on the government’s decision to diversify from a trade-based economy to one that is service- and tourism-oriented. According to officials, it is necessary for projects like Burj Dubai to be built in the city to garner more international recognition, and hence investment. “He(Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum) wanted to put Dubai on the map with something really sensational,” said Jacqui Josephson, a tourism and VIP delegations executive at Nakheel Properties.

Burj Dubai height

Current record

Tallest structure: 818 m (2,684 ft) (previously KVLY-TV mast – 628.8 m (2,063 ft))

Tallest freestanding structure: 818 m (2,684 ft) (previously CN Tower – 553.3 m (1,815 ft))

Building with most floors: 160 (previously Sears Tower / World Trade Center – 110)

Highest vertical concrete pumping (for a building): 601 m (1,972 ft) (previously Taipei 101 – 449.2 m (1,474 ft))

Highest vertical concrete pumping (for any construction): 601 m (1,972 ft)[19] (previously Riva del Garda Hydroelectric Power Plant – 532 m (1,745 ft))

First world’s tallest structure in history that includes residential space.

Note: Additional records for tallest skyscraper are considered unofficial. On 20 July 2007, the head of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), Antony Wood, said “We will not classify it as a building until it is complete, clad and at least partially open for business to avoid things like the Ryungyong(sic) project. Taipei 101 is thus officially the world’s tallest until that happens.”

Thanks for spending some time to read this extra information. Anything can discuss in comment. Thanks again and assalamualaikum…
